Meh

First day of the new semester starts tomorrow.

But yet I have been gone out all day.

I went to a wedding. Met with highschool friends. Talked for like 5 hours.

Then I went to a party and I dance, and flirted and do unseemly stuff that I would not state on my blog (lest it comes and haunt me and the proceed to kick me in the ass).

It's 1 in the morning.

First class at 8 am.

This does not bode well.

Bittersweet Aftertaste

" Is solace anywhere more comforting than in the arms of a sister? "

Alice Walker

Weddings are bittersweet.

I am happy that she found someone that love her as much as he does but I hate the fact that things change now. She's someone wife now and one day she'll have her own family. It's sad that I no longer be a major part of that. I am no longer a priority to her when I have been so my entire life. They say I am not losing a sister but instead gaining a brother. But it does feel like that.

No one ever told the little sister how abandon and lonely she'll feel afterwards................................

Hiatus

Blog Hiatus

Hello Drama Lovers, this is going to be my last post for a while. Dramatic Musings is goin on a little hiatus. On accounts that my sister's akad nikah (wedding registration) is this Friday. So its like a mini wedding. Mini wedding that would involve about 200 people...and all to my house..........uurrrghhh.......

See in the Malay culture we have the akad nikah ceremony and then we have the actual wedding ceremony like the next day or the day after. But seeing that my family is a bunch of rebels, we're not doing like that. My sister is only going to have her nikah ceremony this Friday and the actual ceremony in November. On accounts that her fiance is in the process of getting a job abroad so they need to be legally married to get the spousal visa and all. Its too much to explain. So they will have the ceremony in November, after they come back from the 6 months trial period with the company.

In any event, we're having a little pre-wedding/after akad nikah dinner on this coming Friday. And when I say little, I mean we're expecting bout 200 people. Relatives, close friends, cliques and its only 200 after we cut off so many people. I have a huge family. Mom has 8 sibling and some of them already reached the 3 generations mark, Dad has 5 siblings and same story. My relatives alone has brought up the number of guests to about 80ish. This is not including the groom's side. And friends. I'm only allowed to invite 3 friends. Eeeevil. The other day I drove Mom to MPK coz we need to get the permit to close the road. Yes, we are closing the road since there's gonna be five canopies erected for the guests. Almost as long as the road itself. And no, the Constantly Dramatic One is not exaggerating. I wish I am but I'm not. You have no idea how stressed my family is now.

So its this Friday. There is so much left to do. Wedding jitters. Unfinished stuff. My outfit looks like crap. So many things can go wrong on that day. We are going fill up the house with fresh flowers, like all over the place. Plus candles. I'm afraid that someone would knock over the candles and burn down the place. I told my mom to stock up on fire extinguishers. But we don't have any. I'm nervous.

This is the first wedding in my family. HUGE DEAL. I'm shitting bricks right now. The catering might fucked up. More people would show up than expected. My sister's beautiful wedding dress goes into wardrobe malfunction. My bastard cousins hitting on my smokin hot friends. Kids would knock over the candles and burn down my house hence I would would be homeless after the wedding. I trip down the stairs, landed on my face, suffer through internal bleeding and die. Possible case scenarios.

Sooooooo nerve wrecking. Soooooooo very nerve wrecking. Uuuurrrrrgghhhh.

Will be back on next Monday.
With nikah photos.

Fo sho'.

P/S: Is it me or the Internet have been incredibly shitty lately?

Day in Stupidity

The Constantly Dramatic One was stalked today.

By a bunch of stupid fucks.

It started out like this. I went out to buy material for my sister's upcoming wedding. The theme is blue therefore the whole family is wearing blue. I only have one outfit in blue and like hell I am gonna repeat outfits for my sister's wedding.

So today I went to Gulati's Silk House, a famous cloth retail over here to find material to be turn into a kebaya. Its in the Malay culture, and every other culture I think, to wear our traditional clothes during big occasions such as weddings. When I was entering the store, there was a group of four guys, in their twenties hanging about near the store but I couldn't really give a damn.

I am after all a woman on a mission.

I think I spent over an hour in the store looking over the most beautiful material that would look good on

a) moi,
b) would still look good when turned into a kebaya,
c) within the budget or my dad will turn homicidal.

Finally the Constantly Dramatic One settled on this gorgeous blue material, its glorious. It turned greenish when the light hits it and shiny and soooo pretty. 100% Korean silk so you know its comfy as hell. And best part is, its only within the budget because there is a 40% discount. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I'm gonna wear that and feel...luxurious.

So after keeping the shop assistants busy for over an hour and damn happy with my selection I decided to do some window shopping. The four guys that was hanging about was still there when I left Gulati's. Its when I was browsing books at
MPH that I noticed that there were two of the guys in the bookstore with me. There was nothing peculiar over two guys browsing for books. What's peculiar was that they were in front of the section where they were selling historical romance novels. And when I was looking, they both were sooooo into searching for a book.

Okay, two gay dudes who probably enjoy reading historical romance to each other and anal sex.

Yeah, okay. I'm down with that.

Then I left and check out jewelery boxes In Living Quarters and the two guys are still there. This time looking at vases. Glass vases with intricate flowery designs.

Okay, so on top of reading historical romance to each other and anal sex, they probably also playing house together.

Yeah, okay. I'm down with that.

Then it all finally clicks when the Constantly Dramatic One's was in
Watson's looking at sanitary pads and guess who were looking at pads too? Uh huh....yeah. Doesn't seem so gay now and I feel stupid as fuck. Then one of the guys smiled at me and asked what my name is. That's right huney, make your move by the sanitary pads. In a drugstore.

Classy.

I smiled to be polite and then walked away. They followed me around and then tried to made contact by sanitary pads. Like hello? I don't come near at all to being as hot as Scarlett Johansson or ever been the pretties girl in the room but I do need someone with a minute level of brain functionality. Clearly they don't have this. Plus, they were
rempits. I won't go near a rempit even with a 40 feet pole.

So that concludes the Constantly Dramatic One's day in stupidity. Wasn't the first time I was stalked by rempits though. Rempits like to stalk women apparently. God...when is there going to be a law that legalize people to shoot rempits on sight? Oh wait was that too harsh?

Its supposed to be.

Of joy and sadness

My Dad likes to say that the first time he met Mom, it was love at first sight. She was waiting at the bus stop and he was on his motorcycle waiting for the light to turn green when he saw her. "And that's when I saw your Mom, in her tight kebaya, looking pissed off and bothered under the sun. She looked beautiful."

My Dad then proceed to wait across the street everyday from the bus stop so that he can have a look at Mom. I pointed out that this was in fact an act of stalking and he was in fact, stalking her. He said he wasn't stalking but being romantic. I say stalking. He maintains on romantic. We got into an argument. He threatened not to give me any more money for shoes.

The Constantly Dramatic One agrees that it is indeed romantic.

It was a week before he had the guts to ask her out. It was a whole month before she finally agree on going out with him. It was a year later that they were married. And this month, on Dec 6th 2007 its going to be 27 years since all that.

My parents received a whole lot of opposition when they were starting out. Mainly because Dad was engaged to another girl when he met Mom. To be fair it was family arranged, and to be fair the girl he was engaged to also had a beau of her own. In any event my Mom was seen as a troublemaker by Dad's family and his whole family hated...actually they still do hate her but that's another story for another day.

They almost didn't make it my Mom and Dad...Dad was so desperate he suggested that they should elope but that didn't happened because before they could do anything about it, the girl my Dad was engaged to eloped with HER beau. Kinda solve the problem for my parents. Lots of drama right? Now you people know why I'm so dramatic. Totally runs in the family people.

Anyways what I'm trying to say is that after all these years my parents are still together and going strong. I like the way how Dad calls Mom from the office just to hear her voice everyday for the last 27 years. I admire the fact that Mom won't eat alone no matter how hungry she is, she will wait for him to come home from work to have dinner with him. I love how they still go to the same A&W they used to have dates on some Sundays. It makes me smile how they still hold each other's hands when they're out together.

So why am I talking about this? It could possibly be because their anniversary is coming up or...it also could possibly be the fact that my older sister just told me that she is getting married next year.

On one hand I am happy for her but on another I am sad because my older sister is leaving me. I'm all very mixed up now. Instead of joy, I am overwhelmed with sadness. Weddings are not supposed to be sad especially when your sister comes home all glowing with happiness and telling you that you are the first person in the whole world to know that she's engaged. She wants you to be the first person to know coz that's how important you are to her. No, this is supposed to be the occasion to be remembered and celebrated and shared. Look at Mom and Dad, 27 years now so yeah, this could work....but yet...

I am worried. What if the guy she is marrying turns out to be a huge jerk? What happens if he starts hitting her and my sister ends up becoming a statistic? There are sooo many possibilities here, both good and bad. I prefer to pay attention to the bad so that I can go ahead resenting the guy for taking my sister away from me....childish? I know....... But on the other hand she could end up with a guy who loves her the way Dad loves Mom. She could end up with the type of marriage our parents have. Or she could not. But what she will definitely be is some one's wife and someone else's sister in law.

No longer exclusively my sister anymore.

In any event, putting aside whatever it is my emotional conflict over this... I hope she finds the kind of joy my parents found in their marriage in her own. I really do.
