Excuse me, shouldn't you stop living in ignorance?

"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "You guys did vote well. Thank you.":

Excuse me...shouldn't you be more concerned about the political affairs of your own country instead of having visions and premonitions about a foreign country's election?

Dearest Anon,

Regarding your comment, first of I want to say how sorry I am for you. Really I am. You made me really sad. A lot of things makes me sad of course..... for instances the fact that Clive Owen still married to his wife makes me sad. The fact that my sister lives so far away makes me sad. Three legged dogs makes me sad. My favourite hairdresser moving away therefore he can no longer do my hair on alternate weekends makes me sad. So you see a lot of things do makes me sad and sadly I have to say that you have entered the list of things/people/events/creatures that makes me sad.

The fact that you left such a comment shows how small and shallow your world is. Why can't I be concerned with the state of affairs of a foreign country? Is it not my prerogative as a citizen of this world to educate myself and to keep abreast with the ongoings of the world? Be it politically, economically, entertainment wise or whatsoever? Why can't I be excited for what I perceived the new dawn for America? For what in my idealistic, 20-something mind see as the beginning of the end of racism, the existence of a nation as one, the end of a a hideous world economy and also the end of a senseless war that have taken away the lives of so many? Sure, this is all happening in another country. Sure this is the ongoings of America. And I am Malaysian. I realise that. You realise that. The people who take time off their daily lives to read this blog realise that.

Yes, Anonymous, I know that I am not American. Thank you for pointing that out in not so many words.

I am concerned about the affairs of my country. Malaysia. Yes let me spell that out for you again. I am Malaysian. I am not American. If you are so inclined to point that out for me then I am so inclined to point that out for you too. Good manners you see, it's what we Asians (Malaysia is a country situated in South East Asia) are famous for. Yes, I do care about my own country's affairs. I am a registered voter and earlier this year I did my part as a citizen of Malaysia and voted. I voted and closely followed the elections updates with bated breath. I even stayed up all night just so I can hear what the local political pundits are discussing, to educate myself of the ongoings of my own country's political scene. In fact, I was so excited with the outcome that I did my first and only live blogging post. Here let me link you to the
posts I have written regarding the political affairs of my country. (Scroll down to the bottom of the page and work your way up).. And if you see on the bottom left of this page of this blog titled "Not Dramatic but Political", yes those are the blogs that I read on a daily basis to know the ongoings of my own country. Malaysia.

So you see Anon dear, unlike you I chose to be concerned with the political ongoings of the world as well as my country (Malaysia, we don't want to forget that do we?). I chose to educate myself. I chose to not be ignorant but instead set my mind on a global scale. I keep abreast with the news and the political state of the rest of the world because what happens in a country as powerful as America, effects smaller countries such as Malaysia. Yes, Malaysia. My country. I haven't forgotten and I hope neither have you.

I have to admit that I have never been so into news or politics until I become a student of the Mass Communication lore. It gets tiring after a while to enter a Mass Comm class and to have your lecturer asking you what's happening in Vietnam/Georgia/China/America/Peru/insert-other-country's-name-here in front of a class of 120 and not know how to answer. It is embarrassing too. So to save myself from the embarrassment I started keeping updates with world affairs, reading 5 different sources of international news everyday. I even have a subscription of Newsweek delivered to my doorsteps as to know what's going on in the world. But after a while I stop reading because I "have to", but continue on because I want to. Because to know what's going in other parts of the world, and not just my country (Malaysia) can open up my mind. Makes me think critically. Makes me thankful to be in my own country (Malaysia) when I compare it to the state of other less fortunate Third World Countries. Also reading, knowing and being concerned with the political affairs of America makes me feel close to my brother. He works and lives in Chicago. Reading up things concerning Chicago, strangely, makes me feel close to him. I also keep updated with the political ongoings of Finland where my sister lives. Are you going to condemn me for that too?

So here we are again, back to your shallow existence. Listen, I really am sorry for you. I'm sorry that you cannot look pass from whatever veil of ignorance and shallowness that your have readily put on and wholeheartedly embrace. I'm sorry that you life revolves only around where ever you are from, and only of people you associated yourself with. I'm sorry that in this era of globalization, people like you, ignorant and shallow still exists. I'm sorry for you and the rest of mankind.

I do not know where you are from or who you are. I rather make no assumptions. You could be a fellow Malaysian. You could be a McCain supporter. You could be just a passerby that feels the need to leave a comment. I do not know but I do care. Because it's people like you, that cannot look pass your ignorance, who happily live in your shallow existence who time and time again as history has proved to be the hindrance to a better tomorrow. I'm sure at this point you want me to give examples of what I am talking about but I rather not. Why don't you look that up yourself? Do a little reading. Might do a world of wonders to your perceptions and life.

Anon, before I end this I want to apologize to you. I am sorry that I have ruin your image of Malaysians. I am sorry that I do not blog on how bad my day was "working the paddy fields or about my brand new batik design". I am sorry that I ruin your stereotyping of Asian women who should at all times be docile and obliging. I am sorry that I do not post up pictures of my friends and I partying, "getting drunk" or blog about how devastated I am that I do not managed to get a pair of stilettos in my size or be concerned with things that society thinks women in their early 20's should be concerned with. I'm sorry that I do not conform to your ideals of what an Asian, Malaysian, 20-something woman should be concerned with or should blog about. I'm sorry that instead I choose to blog about some things that matter. Some political affairs of another country that I am not part of. I am sorry that I chose to think globally when you, clearly, do not.

However Anon, I am interested in where this could go. Why don't you leave a comment in the comment box on what you think of me, as a Malaysian should think or react to the political ongoings of a foreign country. Understand that this is not an invitation for an argument but instead of a debate. You state your reasons on why you choose to live such a shallow existence and why you think that I should follow in your footsteps. I in turn will tell you of my reasons not to. Whatever your points are I am confident that I can refute them because you see.....unlike you, my mind operates on a global scale.

An open letter to my fellow Malaysians....

Dear Malaysian,

Listen, I need to talk to you guys. First of all, hello. How are you? Have you had your dinner yet? How's the family? Good? Oh good then. I'm glad that every thing's going great for you guys. Me? Oh I'm swell. Well as swell as I can get anyways.....given the fact that I'm buried under shitload of assignments these days. But such is a student's life.

Right, where was I? Oh have I ever mentioned that I like being Malaysian? I dunno bout you guys, but by God I do indeed love it. I love being in such a multicultural environment in which we either love each other or we tolerate each other's differences, and then we bitch about it behind each other's back. I love our
"Malaysian time". Yes, it gives way to being tardy. Not that it's a good thing mind you, but sometimes you just gotta be tardy. And oh the happiness and joy that we derive from our foods collectively. Our nasi lemak, our rendang, our ketupat. Oh the joy we get from stuffing those into our mouths.....indescribable. Outsiders will never understand our fascination with our nasi lemak and rendang but it doesn't matter. We Malaysians have found a spot of heaven, and it's on that plate of nasi lemak. I find it fascinating how we all can sit at the mamak hours on end ordering teh tariks, one after the other and talking shit bout the government but yet doing nothing bout it. Other than giving our esteemed favourite mamak more money for our never ending craving for teh tariks. Yes, yes, I do indeed love being Malaysian. And I love you too, fellow Malaysians.

But amidst all this love and camaraderie I just need to iron out a problem I'm having with you guys. I mean, it's kinda a biggie. I do hope it's not offensive but I just need to ask this: Why the fuck are you guys so fucking nosy? Honest to God? Whhhhyyy?!!!

I'm talking about this insatiable need to be nosy assholes on the road. Why is it that every time there is a fucking accident on the motherfucking road, you people found the need to slow the fuck down so that you can all nosily, drive your car sllooooooooooowwwwwlllly by the accident scene so that you'll can see what's goin on? Why is there a need to be this fucking nosy? I mean, you fuckers, I was stuck for 2 fucking hours today on the fucking highway just because some truck overturned.

A truck overturned. It just fucking overturned.

Nothing else happened. The driver did not die, nobody was injured and oh nothing blew up. It just fucking overturned. If Miss Universe was parading naked in the middle of the street and you people found the need to slow the fuck down, fine, I get it. If there was somehow a mortal combat between Optimus Prime and Superman going on the fucking highway and you people found the need to slow the fuck down, fine, I get it. I fucking get it. But this is just a fucking overturned truck!!!! What kind of bleak, shallow, existence do you bitches live that the sight of an overturned truck would excite you so much that you found the need to slow the fuck down hence causing a bigass traffic jam, getting me stuck in it for 2 whole hours?

And no bitches, it did not help that I needed to pee really badly and it was pouring outside. Yes, it was cold. It was freezing in my car even without the AC on. I fucking needed to pee. I mean, it's not like I'm a guy okay. I don't have a penis. If I have one, I would have whip "little CD" out and pee in a bottle. But I don't have a "little CD". I cannot fucking pee in a bottle. I can't deny that at one point that I really did think of leaving my car and go in search for a bush or something. I'll be like "Hey y'all! Listen up, I'm just gonna leave my car here and go to that bush over there and do my thang okay. I mean it's not like you guys are going anywhere anyways.". It was tempting. I can assure you that.

Dante wrote that the final circle of hell is when you are buried in the icy grave of your own tears. Clearly, Dante have never been stuck in a traffic jam for 2 fucking hours with a full bladder.

Also, assholes.......uuuhhh...... I mean Malaysians, we are back to the nosy issue here. Listen, what I do within the vicinity of my car is none of your concern. So what if I like to blast Kelly Clarkson's "Walk Away"........and then pretend to be Kelly Clarkson in my car? Albeit, a more ossum version of her. Huh? What if I like to do that? It keeps me zen. It keeps me from going crazy. It keeps me from running out from my car like a crazy bitch to find the nearest bush. Let me be. In my car, I am Kelly Clarkson. Also fuckface in the white Honda Jazz next to me, I saw you taking a video of me while I am in my intense rendition of "Since You've Been Gone". I saw you fuckface, eventhough you tried hiding your phone from me.

I. Saw. You.

I got your car plate number. If I find out that there is a video of me, doing my batshit crazy rendition of "Since You've Been Gone", in my car, on the net, I will track you down like the dog that you are. I will kidnap each one of your family, and then feed them to crocodiles while you watch. I will tape your eyelids open (a'la
A Clockwork Orange), so that you cannot not look as your 76 year old grandma is being eaten alive by a particularly famished crocodile. I will not end you bitch, no, I will smash both of your kneecaps and your knuckles with a sledgehammer, Vegas style, and let your crawl away to your worthless freedom. Go on, live your life with the excruciating pain of broken kneecaps and knuckles and the memory of your whole family being eaten alive by crocodiles. That will teach you for videotaping me when I'm pulling a Kelly Clarkson in my car.

I'm onto you, white-Honda Jazz-fuckface. I'm onto you.

So yes, that is all. I hope you, my fellow Malaysians have a lovely rest of the evening. I do adore you and value your companionship........ when you are not being nosy fuckers that is. Except for that one Malaysian guy. The one who videotaped me. Yeah, this is a little advice from me to you: Ship your whole family to Mongolia, while you still have the chance to do it.

hugs, kisses, your fellow Malaysian,

Things happen Mom....

Dear Mom,

Before anything else I would like to thank you. Thank you for carrying me around in you womb for nine months and then later on went into a 15 hour labor to bring me into the world. Thank you. Thank you for driving me to school, to tuition classes, to swimming classes, to violin classes for like 12 years of our lives. Thank you for listening to the crap that spew out of my mouth even though half of if doesn't make sense. Thank you for teaching me how to ride the bicycle, how to read and I still remember those days when I sit on your lap as you guide my hand to write. Thank you for all the the little things and the big things that make you such a wonderful mother.

And yes, I am thankful that about two years ago you talk Dad into giving me a car for my birthday. How many people can say they get cars for their birthdays? Well not that many that I know of. I love my car. I like the facade of freedom that comes with it. I like the colour, it matches my personality. I like the fact that Dad change the rims and now I have pimped out rims. As much as I love my car, and I do, and I consider it to be a part of me, I also love your car Mom. A lot.

Would it kill you if you let me drive it once in a while? Like seriously. I understand that your car is about I dunno....6 times the price of my car. I understand that. But here's the deal Mom, you don't even drive your car around. Half the time you make me drive you around. To the bank, to the pasar malam, to your biweekly Quran readings, not that I mind....but maybe I could drive you around in your car once in a while. And I seriously resent that you say I will total your car. I have never total any car........... Okay, that was that one time when I bang the wall with my car when I tried to reverse park...and take out a headlight at the same time. I get that. But that was like what, 9 months ago? You cannot possibly hold that against me? I was young. It was 9 months ago. Come on!

And no Mom, I do not appreciate that you hide the keys to your car when you're out with Dad. I know this because they weren't at the usual place and I spent 2 hours searching for them. What kind of mother hides her car keys from her only child? That's right, ONLY CHILD. ME. You already married off one kid, and the other one is chasing the American Dream.

3 - 2 = ME!!!!

Honestly. It's just a car. Why won't you let me drive it?!!!!!!! It pains me to my soul that the beauty just stays there, in the porch and you too stingy to let me drive. Seriously. Why do you hurt me so? Do you like seeing your ONLY CHILD suffer? Huh huh? And Mom think about it, if something were to happen to me. Something bad, something....wouldn't you regret not letting me have the one thing I want....when I was around. ("Was" = past tense Mom, take note). Wouldn't you just hate yourself. Wouldn't you think to yourself "Ohhhh, I should have let CD drive my car. Its her final wish....." But by then it would be too late. Coz I'm no longer around.

Things happen Mom. I just don't want you to regret it.

The only one that's left.......for now,

Dear Clive, why are you so hot?

Dear Clive,

I came home today after a long day in college of talking shit and well, more talking shit and basically I'm beat. I thought I'll get online and get some school work done but then I stumbled upon these pictures of you on Jezebel.com and Holy Mother of God...........

Let me touch you.

Intimately.
